Shrawan is the fourth month of the Hindu calendar. Beginning in late July from the first day of the full moon and ending in the third week of August the day of full moon.

The month of shrawan is a very important for the entire sub-continent of Nepal. It is considered to be holy month in Hindu calendar due to the numerous festivals that are celebrated during the time. Also special worship of Lord Shiva and fasting is observed on Mondays. They are termed "Shrawan Somwar". Just offering water and milk and performing abhishekam for shivaling is extremely powerful. Waking up early morning, visiting the Lord Shiva temple and offering a mixture of milk, ghee, yogurt, gangajal and honey also known as panchamrut along with Bilvas leaves is a must. It is believe that who pray to the lord, who always protects his followers from all dangers and blesses them with good health and fortune.
